I'm Steph, a slow fashion maker and designer based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

As a conscious designer with an inherent curiosity about the relationship between humans and their belongings, I have always been inspired by society's tendency to buy and own too much 'stuff.' My final major project focused on the idea of a shareable future, where communities all over the world own nothing but share everything.

People would rent modular clothing from central libraries in the heart of each major city. My inaugural collection included outerwear and accessories, with patterns inspired by M65 army parkas and military surplus bags. It was after this project that I realized my passion for vintage clothing and my desire to utilize what we already have.

After graduating, I packed my bags and moved to Ohio, where I began a
graduate role at Abercrombie and Fitch, working in their denim department. It was during my time there that I honed my love for vintage denim, going on sourcing trips in Portland and Seattle to find new washes and hunting through piles of vintage textiles from collectors who had made it their life's mission to find true beauty in the used and discarded.

After one failed visa attempt and with a heavy heart, I moved back to the UK. But my fashion career was just beginning. After stints at Next, New Look, and a few big fashion suppliers along the way, I visited all four corners of the world—from Bangladesh to Paris, Sri Lanka to endless trips to China. It was there that I saw the true impact of the fashion industry on the world and understood the gravitas of what we consume. I knew then that I wanted to be part of a movement that solves the problem, not creates it.

Enter Ambridge Studio—a lifelong dream to create lovely things for lovely people. My aim is to make clothing so much more than something we wear once and throw away. I want to create pieces that you can wear a thousand times and still feel excited to put on. To help you know what shapes suit you, and then own those shapes in every print and fabric you like, curating your own 'capsule wardrobe.' Clothes that love you, whether you've lost weight, are bloated on your period, or are navigating before, during, and after pregnancy. Ambridge Studio is a brand for people who want to wear their clothes time and time again.

Thank you for coming along for the journey.
